Week 4

Tutorials / Seminars and project development.

Overview of rendering / compositing techniques.

Project planning should be more detailed and potential problem areas identified.
Sketch-work & color visual development should be advancing.

Week 5

Tutorials / Seminars and project development.

Overview of Animation / lighting and it's effect on modeling techniques.
Organic Modeling.

Development should be progressing in 3D Studio Max.
Texture sources / rendering techniques should be identified.

Class will continue after lunch for tutorials in 3D Studio Max

Week 6

Tutorials / Seminars and project development.

Modeling and UV texture maps.
Material animation.

Week 7

Development Critique:20% Digital Presentation of prototype development. Must include:

  • Clearly identified individual tasks and research summary of specific topic
  • 3D modeling / Animation in progress (success and failure)
  • Texture maps and materials in progress (success and failure)
  • Sound bytes, music, video footage etc
  • Mockups of undeveloped data, Aninmatic.

Advanced materials, procedural textures vs texture maps. Texture map generation in Photoshop

Lighting techniques, surface types.

Project development, problems / solutions identified.

End of term critique: Multimedia presentation addressing all aims and objectives outlined in the original and developed project briefs. You will present in groups, comments on individual effort will be noted. Group marks for this component will be given:

Final Submission January 07 10:00am. Foyle Arts Building Office.

All work must be submitted and clearly marked (Name, Student Number, Module Number, Lecturer Name.)

All work should be submitted. Individual Assessment will be core and any modifications to the group work from week 12 will be accepted.
